Australian Film Making Scam Artists

 

This plain webpage has something very simple to say: The Australian Film Industry is riddled with producers that milk the funding system for anything they can get without ever making a decent profitable film.

 

One example is a Producer who works out of a rusting paddle steamer near Queensland’s Gold Coast. This fellow along with some others set up a production company, called Pictures In Paradise of which to this day has not made one good quality motion picture. Just a small string of B-grade flicks that are horribly written and directed. With the promise of more to come. Good God I hope not.

 

From going over many of their funding sheets that are available online through various government departments these guys like many other Low-budget producers in Australia are merely in it for a quick cash kill so they can continue living extravagant life-styles and pretend they are ‘real’ film makers that continue to produce low quality shit-flicks.

 

The biggest scam these guys perform is conning funding bodies into helping them ‘discover’ new writers and other talent. Some writers are good, some are absolutely crap. Yet they sign up these writers into quick kill $10 options so the producers can milk the governments ‘new screenwriter schemes’ etc for about 20,000-30,000 in writer/development fees. Of which the writer gets around 4-5,000 if they are lucky. After that $10 option runs out you can kiss any more attempts of making a decent film out of the material these writers conjured up good-bye. For every writer that falls victim to this scam (don’t forget you have to pay tax of that cool $5000 or whatever it could be) the production company scores $14,000 to $15,000. The producers do fuck all for this money, apart from making some crap art department script covers and spin a bit of bullshit about who could be invloved in the project – and at the end of a 2^nd or 3^rd draft submission meeting – don’t have a fucking clue what it is the writers have actually written. Why should they – all they want is to collect the 60,000 funding money from the last 4 writers they have “signed up”. It makes me sick that these leaches haven't been audited. Maybe it’s about time someone from the Australian Taxation office paid them a visit and sank these bogus film makers.

 

These fuckers need to be stopped. Get your ass into gear ATO and slam dunk these pricks.

 

If these asshole producers can’t make at least one decent film that grosses at least 3 times it's total production costs then give them the damn FLICK. They are a waste of space and money.
